The Basilica Minore del Santo Niño in Cebu was built In 1565 (burnt down a couple times and finally finished 1740) by Miguel Lopez de Legazpi and Fr. Andres Urdaneta. It holds the oldest Christian relic in the Philippines – the statue of Santo Niño (infant Jesus). This statue was given to Rajah Humabon and Queen Juana when Magellan first arrived in Cebu. You will find a never ending line of worshipers coming to pray in front of Santo Niño. It’s a popular tourist attraction in Cebu. During the Sinulog Festival this area is packed with people.
