Hotel Elizabeth Cebu is a new hotel (built in 2009) in Cebu offering modern luxuries and comforts to its guests. It’s rated as a 3 and half star hotel and has 131 rooms.

The hotel is located only minutes away (walking) from Ayala Shopping Mall in Cebu. For me Ayala is premier shopping mall in Cebu City (or at least until they finish the new SM Mall in the SRP area). Ayala Cebu is a fantastic place and offers the tourist plenty of things to do and buy. Department stores, clothing stores, supermarket, chiropractor and you can even get a tattoo done! The highlight has to be “The Terraces” area which offers multi levelled dinning with dozens of choices in restaurants and cuisines. Or just sit outside one of the many cafes and people watch.
It’s pretty easy to catch a taxi from the hotel, or if for some reason you cannot get one, just walk over to Ayala as there are plenty of taxi ranks

From Cebu Airport the drive should take around 30 minutes and cost around 200 PHP if you use the white taxi on the meter (depending on traffic on the day).

Rooms start from the Deluxe. These come in 3 types, the double (see video), queen and triple. The only difference is the bed type. The rooms come with mini bar, coffee and tea making facilities, safe, cable LCD TVs, free Wi-Fi, air conditioning and hot and cold showers. Deluxe rooms are modern and are of a good size. The Suite Rooms come with extra space and bathtub in the bathrooms. See video for more details on this. The Honeymoon Suite comes with a Jacuzzi with fantastic views. They also have a Penthouse Suite again see video for more details on this.

If you book online such as with Agoda, rooms come with free buffet breakfast, although there are options just to pay for room only. The buffet breakfast is reasonable

Hotel Elizabeth Cebu has its own little gym, a fully automatic fire safety system and a stand-by generator in case of brown outs. It has a business centre, ballroom, conference room, 24 hour security and CCTV monitoring system. It also offers its guests laundry and room service.

The hotel also offers meeting room and wedding packages. The also regularly have dinner buffets promotions. Please contact the hotel direct for more details. .

With the fierce competition in the area (between hotels) Hotel Elizabeth often has promos on its rooms; in fact all the hotels in this area do the same. So do check with the discount hotel booking websites or contact the hotel direct. If you plan to stay in Cebu during the Sinulog Festival book early and expect to pay a premium. Most hotels require a minimum 3 night stay. It is around 15 minute or so walk to the parade (along Maxilom Ave.), taxis are extremely hard to find during this time.

My Review of the Elizabeth Hotel in Cebu

This is my 3rd time to stay at the hotel; the first time was just after it opened when it was having its “soft opening”. If you ever want to get a good bargain with room rates, these soft openings can offer fantastic value, although you do need to put up with a few “growing pains” as the hotel is still sorting its self out. I still have to say the hotel is one of the better hotels in Cebu in its bracket as a mid-ranged hotel. Like I have said in the video, getting a hotel around Ayala shopping mall is for me the best area to stay in Cebu.

It’s not surprising in the last few years a lot of hotels have been built in this area of Cebu now and they are all competing for your tourist dollar. It keeps the hotels around Ayala at competitive rates and I’m always seeing some type of hotel promo going on. I remember staying at an older hotel (Regal Park Hotel) a number of years ago, when I checked the rates in 2014 they were cheaper than they were back in 2011. Anyhow back to the Elizabeth Hotel, for me this is a great hotel to stay at and I have no hesitation to recommend it. I do like the Quest Hotel a little more and I think it’s a little cheaper too, but like I said in the video, the suite rooms of the Elizabeth are really nice. Of the hotels in the Ayala area that it competes with and lead in rooms, I would rank them in this order

1/ Quest Hotel Cebu

2/ Harold’s Hotel

3/ Elizabeth Hotel

4/ Manderin Plaza Hotel.

They are all pretty good choice of hotels in Cebu and are pretty close in standard; the difference from 1 to 4 is minimal, in my opinion anyway! I don’t mind staying at any 4 of these hotels. The Parklane Hotel I think has become dated and unfortunately hasn’t kept up with these newer hotels. The Cebu Marriott Hotel is a little bit more upmarket (4 star) so I didn’t compare it. Bear in mind all these other hotels have swimming pools, while the Elizabeth is the only one without.

I give the Elizabeth Hotel Cebu a rating of GOOD.
