Video Review of Bahura Resort and Spa
Bahura Resort and Spa in Dauin is a 3 star resort and has 40 rooms. These are made up of 8 villas (4 with ocean view and 4 with garden view) and 32 guest rooms. The resort has some lovely gardens with the property covering 5 hectares. Bahura Resort’s main feature is the two free form flowing infinity pools. It just looks fantastic. They have their own restaurant which serves up reasonable food.
The resort is located around 20-30 minute drive from Dumaguete City in Dauin. This area if fairly popular with a number of resorts dotted along this stretch of Negros Oriental. While the beaches won’t wow you, it’s certainly a great place to relax and a perfect place to stop off at if you are planning on going to Apo Island. There are also a number of tourist spots in the area (see video) as well as Dumaguete is worth a visit too. It also offers connections to Siquijor Island as well as flights to Manila and Cebu City. The resort does offer a city tour and other activities such as dolphin watching, waterfall tours and caving. Check with Bahura Resort for more details and prices. As there is good diving in the area, the resort has its own PADI dive shop.
Rooms start from the Deluxe which are a good size. They come with the standard amenities such as cable TV, air conditioning, room safe, tea and coffee making facilities. They come with a king size bed as well as a mattress/sofa. Generally I was pretty happy with the room. Bathroom was large as well and come with hot/cold shower. The other room I checked out was the Villa. These are 61 sqm in size. The have a loft bedroom upstairs complete with king size bed, while down stairs has living area. The bathrooms again are very spacious.
Bahura Resort does offer day use packages which include a lunch and use of the pool. Rates when I stayed were 500 PHP per person. Please check with resort for latest rates and conditions.
The resort’s grounds are lovely and green. There is plenty of open area to roam around. The beach front itself isn’t a tropical paradise (see video) and is made up of pebbles and blackish sand. But it is nice to stroll along and take in the fresh ocean breezes. You can see Apo Island from the beach.
Overall I found Bahura Resort and Spa in Dauin a fairly decent resort. I did find it on the pricey side for a 3 star resort. Its highlight is its fantastic looking pool. I made this as a stopover on my way back from Apo Island back to Dumaguete. It was a great way to enjoy some little luxuries after spending time on one of the the rustic resorts in Apo. The time I stayed during mid-week the place was really quiet but I suspect during the weekend or holidays it could get a bit noisy especially from day trippers. For me I would rate Bahura Resort and Spa as above average.
