Grand Hyatt Melbourne Video Review
One of the Top Hotels in Melbourne Australia
The Grand Hyatt Melbourne Hotel is one of the city’s top 5 star hotels. Located on the top end of Collins Street (123 Collins Street to be exact) it is walking distance to some of upmarket fashion stores such as Louis Vuitton, Giorgio Armani, and Prada etc. There is a tram that runs out the front and it’s fairly close to most of Melbourne’s tourist spots.
The hotel is huge, with 550 guest and suites. The building towers over Collins Street, as you can see from the video. Because of that, some of the rooms have amazing views of Melbourne and (depending on where your room is facing) of the Yarra River. Particularly when you can watch the lights of the city.
Facilities at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne included a huge gym – which has an indoor swimming pool, and spa, steam room, rooftop tennis court and massage/beauty services.
On the ground floor is the Ru-Co Bar which is good for cocktails and beers. The Lobby Lounge and Bistro Bar has all day dining and light refreshments (from 6 am – until late).
It has a wonderful restaurant called Collins Kitchen. As I say in the video, the food here was fantastic. That includes the buffet breakfast, one of the best in Melbourne. There is a huge selection of dishes, including some Asian ones.
I thought the rooms were good (from what I stayed at) not overly huge, but adequate. Nice and comfortable. What I loved was the views, you’ll get a better idea of what I mean if you watch the video. The nice comfy lounge lets you unwind and perfect for watching out the window. I did stay at the Sofitel Melbourne, a little further up Collins Street. I raved about the views from that hotel, but I think the views from the Grand Hyatt are even better! Their bathrooms were nice and have Italian marble. Overall I enjoyed staying in the room. The other room I stayed at was the Yarra River View and Club Access one. This allows you to use the Hyatt’s Club Lounge, a lovely place to unwind with all day refreshments. It also offers fantastic views of Melbourne. There is a buffet breakfast served up here, but the buffet at Collins Kitchen restaurant is much later – they do allow you to “upgrade” by paying extra to eat here if you wish (see video for more).
For other room types and prices at the Hyatt please watch the video review of the hotel. I go into more details.
Grand Hyatt Melbourne Verdict
I really loved my stay at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne. Right from the check in, staff were just great. The dining both at the restaurant and in room were excellent. I was blown away by the views in some of the rooms. I found myself just sitting and staring out the window. I got a lot of photos taken!
If you are looking for a luxury stay and one of the best hotels in Melbourne, the Grand Hyatt should be high up on your list.
