Top 7 Budget Hotels/Pension Houses in Cebu City
(based on lead in cheapest room rate of hotel under 1000 Pesos) All rooms listed have hot and cold water showers.
Sometimes its 3rd time lucky and LS did themselves and Cebu well with this great budget option. With its sister hotels LS 1 and LS 2, just walking distance down the road, LS 3 Pension House stands out in front. A newish building with nice clean modern rooms. As with most pension houses it’s simply furnished but it has the added luxury (that its sister hotels don’t have) of hot water. Cable TV and air conditioning are also included all for under 800 Pesos. While the beds could be a little more comfortable and have wifi in the hotel, this is none the less great value. Location wise it’s only a short walk to Ramos Street, just behind the Diplomat hotel.
For under 1000 Pesos Premiere Citi Suites is a serious contender for one of the best deals in Cebu. A brand new hotel just off Juana Osmeña St, an area already filled with a lot of budget to mid priced hotels and accommodation. Free wifi, brand new rooms, air conditioned and cable TV it’s no wonder this hotel is constantly busy! It’s conveniently located within walking distance of restaurants, bars, shopping malls , Mango Square and hospitals. It easily makes it into the top 7.
This one was a real shock for me as I had not heard anything about it previously. I was pleasantly surprised after staying at this hotel. Located in the downtown are of Cebu (a busy, noisy and dirty area), I liked the fact that this was a little way back from a main road, down a little path. The room we stayed in was quiet, peaceful, comfortable and clean with a nice bed. It’s just behind San Carlos University and around the corner from Hotel De Mercedes. If you’re staying in the downtown area this maybe an option to think of.
Gran Tierra Suites Cebu is another newish hotel in Cebu located in the Capitol area and only a couple of minutes walk to Osmeña Boulevard. We always need to book in advance for this hotel, as it’s always (and rightly so) booked out. For under 1000 Pesos this is truly a fantastic deal, not only that you get access to free wifi and unlimited drinking water (from a drinking tank in the hallway) . The only downer is that the beds are quite firm.
The brightly coloured hotel (with a Mexican feel to it ) can’t but put you in a cheerful mood. The rooms are modern and clean . There is a restaurant on the ground floor which serves decent food. The staff are professional and follow the rules to the book, so don’t expect any breaking of the rules (i.e bringing friends/guests into the room). The location is down a side street not far from Capitol building .To get anywhere from the hotel you will need to catch a taxi or jeepney. This hotel in Cebu is a great budget option and one we recommend.
A long time favourite of mine, Apple Tree Suites is in a prime location being close (walking distance) to everything around Fuente Osmeña Circle, the rooms are well maintained for their age. They have a nice little rooftop restaurant with a great view of Cebu City. Wifi is free in the lobby, the staff are great and it’s everything you need at a great price!
Cebu View Tourist Inn in the downtown area
Verbena Capital Suites (different from Verbena Pension)
Top 10 mid to upper priced hotels in Cebu
This newly opened hotel in Cebu (2010) sports modern facilities and some excellent amenities. The staff are super friendly and helpful, just what you would come to expect from one of Cebu’s finest upmarket hotels. The rooms are great, clean and modern. Location wise, you’re right on the doorstep of one of Cebu’s biggest shopping malls – SM. Mind you, the rest of the area around is a bit dubious, as it’s industrialised, noisy and there isn’t really anything else within walking distance. So if you are looking for a hotel in Cebu with a touch a class, Radisson Blu Cebu should be on the top of your list.
Waterfront Cebu is bigger and bolder than its sister hotel in Mactan Island. It has a huge lobby and great choice of places to eat, duty free shop and a casino to lose your money in! The staff are friendly and welcoming, the rooms comfortable, clean and has great facilities. The buffet breakfast is one of Cebu’s best, with great variety of choice, you can be guaranteed there is something to tempt your taste buds. Location wise you’re right on Salina Drive which has a number of restaurants (all walking distance) and one of Cebu’s biggest discos, Sunflower disco. Across the road is IT Park with coffee shops, restaurants and bars. Even Ayala Mall is only a 15 minute walk from here. Waterfront Cebu Hotel will surely satisfy most tourists looking for a hotel with a bit of everything.
For someone looking for a great mid ranged hotel in Cebu, you can’t go much wrong with the Quest Hotel. It has some modern clean and comfortable rooms. A nice outdoor pool to cool off in. Best of all it’s in one of best locations in Cebu. Ayala Shopping Center is located right across the road and is one of Cebu City’s best shopping malls. Here you a huge arrange of restaurants and cafes at its popular Terraces area. The shopping mall has plenty of stores, banks, department store and supermarkets to keep shoppers happy. With competing hotels in the area, rates are kept competitive. If you’re looking for a great 3 star hotel in Cebu you can’t get much better than the Quest.
Looking for Cebu hotel for great value around Fuente Osmeña? Elegant Circle Inn should be considered. For around 1000 Pesos you can get a decent room in a prime location. We have heard some bad reviews on this place but we have stayed here over the years and considering the price and area we think this is great value. The rooms and bathrooms are getting a bit on in age, but they are clean and quite satisfactory. The staff could be a little friendlier though! Overall this is an excellent choice for a cheaper hotel in Cebu.
A modern hotel on the edge of Cebu City. The rooms are contemporary, clean, spacious and at an affordable price. The staff are great and there is not a lot of bad things to say about the hotel. It doesn’t have a pool and it is located on a busy intersection. There isn’t really anything in walking distance, but luckily it’s easy to catch a taxi from here and it’s not too far away from SM Shopping Mall or Ayala Mall. It’s also a handy location if you are wanting to catch a bus from the Northern Bus Station ( to Malapascua or Bantayan Island). Of all of hotel in Cebu, Alpa City Suites is one we can highly recommend, you will find yourself hard placed to find a better deal elsewhere in Cebu.
Finding the right accommodation in Cebu can sometimes be quite hard with so many choices of hotels in Cebu. This little gem of a hotel, is located just off Juana Osmeña St. just behind its sister hotel Casablanca and is one of the better hotels in Cebu. Fantastic approachable staff, nice clean rooms, large fresh bathrooms and free wifi. Location is a 2 edge sword; on the one hand you’re in a prime location as far as being close to everything. Mango square and Baseline bars and restaurants, shops, Robinson’s Mall and its supermarket, hospitals and Cybergate, all within walking distance .On the other hand noise is a major issue here and if you’re a light sleeper then we wouldn’t recommend you staying here. This hotel faces Mango square and Pump 2 nightclub just across the car park from the hotel, which thumps out loud music till the early hours of the morning. If you can handle that, then this could be an excellent choice of hotel in Cebu for you at very reasonable price.
A Cebu hotel that’s more like a Cebu resort! It’s refreshing to be able to stay in a city and actually feel like you’re staying in a resort. With its garden setting, pond and outside swimming pool you can actually forget you’re in a bustling city. It gives you a laid back relaxing ambiance feel yet it’s only a few minutes walk to Country Mall Shopping Centre and walking distance to BTC, a trendy little shopping complex with bars, restaurants and a supermarket. The rooms while getting on a bit in age are large and clean. The staff are friendly and courteous and make your stay an enjoyable one. Montebello hotel is definitely one of our favourite hotels in Cebu to stay in.
As the name suggests there is a Kiwi/Aussie touch to this Cebu hotel. It has to be one of Cebu City’s top mid priced hotels with a great restaurant, serving some tasty roasts and meat pies. If you’re an Australian and had enough of the daily rice, this may sound like heaven. It does attract a western clientele but not only from Australia but other parts of the world. The rooms are cozy and clean and offer great value for the average tourist to Cebu. Location wise it’s not on a main road so traffic noise isn’t an issue, the hotel is close to SM Shopping Mall (you can walk it) and not far from Ayala Mall as well. The staff are friendly and make you feel more than welcome. Excellent choice of hotel in Cebu at a great price!
The Henry Hotel (changed its name from The House of Cebu) is a newly opened hotel in Banilad, Cebu. The hotel offers a unique style of hotel in Cebu with its funky decor, large rooms and well appointed rooms. Each room is designed differently with the full comforts you expect from a upper market hotel. The staff are wonderfully helpful and the Henry Hotel has its own amazing restaurant, as well a hip and funky little bar. If your budget allows for it, this is definitely a hotel work checking out
As far as a hotel in Cebu, Marco Polo must occupy one of the best locations to look over the City of Cebu. First rate amenities, large clean rooms, great service, accommodating and friendly staff ! The pool is beautiful, everything you would come to expect from a hotel of this standard. The buffet breakfast is huge, great variety in choice and one of the best buffets in Cebu. The rooftop bar (Blue Bar) gives a fantastic view over the city. You will need to catch a taxi to get anywhere in the city though, as it’s not within walking distance of anything. Marco Polo is a wonderful place to stay in Cebu.
