Transport strike on July 21

THE National Confederation of Transportworkers’ Union (NTCU) yesterday announced it will hold a transport strike on July 21 to oppose Joint Administrative Order (JAO) 2014-01 that carries “oppressive” fines and penalties for traffic violations.

NCTU Cebu chairperson Romeo Armamento said at least 10,000 jeepney and bus drivers in Cebu will be participating.

He said drivers of Vallacar Transit, which operates Ceres buses, will not be among them since the firm did not attend the union’s recent meeting.
