Nalusuan Island Resort is located on the small island of Nalusuan (you can walk around the whole island in a few minutes) and is only 30-45 minutes boat ride from Mactan Island. The cottages on Nalusuan Island Resort (located on one side of the island) are built on stilts overlooking the water, each with their own balcony where one can sit and listen to the waves or watch out over the ocean or watch the fish swim under the rooms. Rooms including the bathroom are basically furnished but are adequate enough.

The island has is popular for day trippers (from Mactan Island) who can enjoy the Island for some great snorkelling and other aqua activities. The resort organises lunch for these groups at its only restaurant located on the island. Nalusuan Island has its iconic long pier that boats dock at and is where the islands marine sanctuary is located.  Nalusuan has some of the best snorkeling in the area, with the chance to see hundreds of fish swimming around the pier and is why it’s so popular for island day trips and not to be missed. The weekends the island becomes quite busy with tourists, but by late afternoon when these tour groups leave, Nalusuan Island Resort becomes a very quiet place to enjoy.

One side of the island has a white sand bank and depending on the tide people can walk on this, or at high tide – swim!

Nalusuan Island Resort is best enjoyed for 1 or 2 nights due to the fact of the island being so small and limiting the amount of things you can do, some may find coming just for a day trip adequate enough, what ever the case it’s well worth visiting.

The resort offers round trip boat transfers from Mactan starting from 2500 P depending on the number of passengers and for other activities on Nalusuan the resort offers:

Banana Boat rides P 3500.00

Kayak                   P 500.00

Paddle boat          P 500.00

Snorkelling set     P 300.00

Scuba diving        P 2000.00

From Nalusuan Island you can see another resort in the distance (see video below), this is the resort of Islands and Sun and is so close you could almost swim there. It’s a little bit more upmarket, with nicer rooms. Although it’s a lot smaller as it only takes up the space of a sand bank.  For me I find Nalusuan has more to offer and the snorkelling is just great. That said you could organise a boat ride from Islands and Sun Resort to Nalusuan.  Because of its close location to Mactan Island most people just come for a day trip and barbeque lunch and it’s a perfect way to send the day. What ever way you wish to do it, Nalusuan Island should be on your itinerary if you’re holidaying in Cebu or Mactan.  Highly recommended and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Cebu.
